Writing CoachMy job as your writing coach is to help you find your strengths and write to those all the while working on craft so other aspects of your writing will develop. I look at the entire person, not just the writing. What’s your daily routine? Job pressures? Home responsibilities? What do you hope to achieve with your writing-a memoir for your grandchildren to read, a mystery series to launch towards the Best Sellers list, or the history of African American whaling industry pre-Civil War? Finally: what do you want to write about and what are you currently working on?
You may have a completed manuscript and don’t feel ready to jump into a rewrite. Or you may not have written much at all, but feel the calling to set words on paper. Or you may have so many writing projects you don’t know where to begin. Well. You can begin here with coaching. I believe you are always a stone’s throw away from achieving what you want with your craft--let me help you along your writing path. |
Development EditingDevelopment or content editing is a skill that requires the ability to look at your project whether it is a stand alone book or one in a series and help shape structure.
For both nonfiction and fiction, I will evaluate your manuscript and provide deletions, suggestions, and revisions with an eye towards making certain your manuscript is well organized, maintains a consistent tone and format for the audience, and that the book is effective meets its purpose. |
SpeakingI have an extensive speaking background and give talks on writing, publishing, and other aspects of both craft and the business side of the writing life.
In addition, I speak on a variety of business topics including how to write effective email, reports and cultivate quality communication systems and avoid pitfalls within a company setting. Finally, I also speak on social justice and contemporary social issues in areas I have published, including topics relating to atheism and religion, parenting, civil rights, education and healthcare. |
